Recruiting Beta Test Riders
The guys at Prospect have come up with some bitchin ideas and this one might be at the top. We are able to offer the opportunity that no other factory is able to offer, an exclusive way for riders to develop the sport they live to do.
The Beta rider program gives dedicated snowboarders, skiers, and wakeboarders a chance to get into research and development in the action sports industry. What’s even better is all you have to do is get out and ride.
Our Beta testers will get access to future product technologies, new shapes, new designs before they hit the market.
We want testers that are looking to contribute to their sport for the better, try new cutting edge ideas, and contribute feedback to up the game in the snow and water sports world.
This will be a very exclusive club in which not everyone is going be able to contribute. The applicants will far outweigh the available positions. For each project we will introduce different skill sets that will fit a particular purpose the board is looking to serve. A wide variety of riders could fit the profile we are looking for. One single rider may fit the development scope of one project but not another so be sure to know what your skill set it.
We will be introducing these projects by email to people who sign up for the beta rider program. To get into the world of Snow and water sports R&D sign up for email alerts to get notified when these opportunities arise. Drop us your name and email and we’ll contact you about upcoming beta projects with the Prospect.
One of our local guys put together this video of the Prospect factory in action. There is a level of pride in what has developed over the past 3 years and we’re stoked to be able to share it. Calen Albert, who made the video… Dude you are crazy rad. T.j. Homan who rides for us also gets a shot in the vid. Everytime I see his new footage I’m amazed at how he is stepping up the bar. Serious talent here ladies and gentleman.
I met these guys as groms when I first got Prospect off the ground. Since, we’ve kept tabs on each other. This year was a reinvention and rejuvenation for Prospect. I’m glad we all have been able to bring talents to the table to better the local scene. That is what I envisioned from day one.
You guys rock!
We’ve gotten asked and asked… Can you do custom snowboards?
We’ve held off. Why? There was some bigger things we had to tackle.
Now, it is ready and we are building some seriously sick boards. We have access to the materials, everything is built and printed in house, and now we have an awesome new retail location that gives you full access to our snowboard factory.
We’ve made some changes…
Baseline prices on our line of boards is now just $399. You can then customize your snowboard by mixing and matching models with artwork, give us your own artwork, and even create your own shape for our range of cambers. You can also add materials like carbon reinforcements, different sidewalls, and faster bases. There are thousands of configurations to chose to make your custom snowboard truly individual.

This spring and summer may be the biggest reinvention we’ve done since the startup of Prospect. Moving the factory, vertical integration, new wakeboard prototypes, a printing operation, new camber profiles, a new race board, a new eco board, and lets not forget an absolutely awesome DROP IN PRICES!!!
Exciting times in the life of our snowboard company. We’ve worked hard to become a totally independent brand, that hand crafts our own boards, without the influence of of minds that have nothing to do with snowboarding. Everything done in the process of making Prospect Snowboards, we have our hands, elbows, and necks fully immersed. We are stoked to say we are moving into an upgraded space with a totally integrated process that lets us build all of our boards in house from start to finish. From printing, to pressing, to riding everything is based from the factory.
We also took our experience and transitioned our durability in snowboards into making wakeboards. With a little bit of homework and research on how boat hulls work we came up with a wakeboard that makes a great flex deck for cable park riding with a shape that works well behind the boat as well. These boards will debut spring of 2014 to give us ample time to test out prototypes and make a super fun wakeboard that performs like a champ. We can’t show you the goods yet, but it will be here soon.
Did we mention we are dropping our prices across the board, on all of our models? With all processes being done in house from making cores, to sublimating graphics, to pressing our decks we save a few bucks. Why not pass the savings on to you? Previously, we sold our decks at a stellar $450 smackers and now we have prices as low as $299. Especially our new eco board called the green ma-chine we have driven the price down as low as a totally affordable $399. After seeing tons of other eco snowboards being more expensive, we figured why be punished for being environmentally responsible? To make this an absolutely stellar deal every Green Ma-chine will be hand crafted to order, signed and numbered from now until December 1st.
We are also introducing some new artwork from our friend Brad Jackson, an Australian adventurer, mountaineer, and photographer. He clipped this photo on one of his expeditions and was kind enough to let us put it on our boards. A great guy and a great supporter of projects like this.
We also entered a new segment in snowboarding. Alpine racing and boardercoss have made a bit of a comeback with leagues popping up in schools and local hills everywhere. The hurdle for kids is not only buying a whole other snowboard dedicated for racing, but also the cost for racing boards easily exceeds $1000. It is a little discouraging to riders who think they have to drop $1500 bucks to win races. That’s like thinking a band in a garage will never make it big because they aren’t on American Idol. We call bullshit. Instead, we came up with a racing board co-engineered with local race coach Brent Alderman called the STG1 that is jet fighter fast at less than half the cost of some of the boutique racing boards. We absolutely can’t wait to see our boards beating boards that are double the cost.
Everything is available to order right now with an approximate delivery time of 4 to 8 weeks!
Here is a rendering for a new model for the 2013/14 season. Dubbed “The Green Machine”, you guessed it, will be made from the greenest, most recycled, reclaimed, or domestically sourced materials available. Lets not fail to mention that it is going to be offered at a bomber price.
The first initiative is to use renewable, natural resources for as many materials as possible. The core is locally sourced and reclaimed from a local mill that would have otherwise ended in a burn pit. Our epoxy system is pine sap and vegetable oil based that skips out on using petroleum. This epoxy doesn’t release poisonous vapors when we work on it and it is pretty much born for making snowboards.
Our Bamboo sidewalls skip out on plastic based materials. Plastics take a huge amount of energy and produce byproduct that pollutes. We also replaced energy hungry carbon fiber with totally renewable, super strong hemp. This combination makes a damp and stable ride with pop to get you in the air.
Some plastics like the topsheet and base are tough to replace with bio content. Instead, we source them domestically to cut out the carbon footprint of transporting material halfway around the world. The tipfill, which is the same material as the base, is reclaimed from prints that didn’t end up using. Just another way we put effort into making the greenest board as possible.
Oh plan on this board being tough to find. Only available here on the website or in the shop!
Joe from the team lab, a photography buff has brought together all the Midwest based shred companies. Yours truly can be seen featuring the Sooperpark CRC, the boardercross STG1, and the future artwork of our wake line. All packaged together in an online catalog of Midwest snowboard, wakeboard, and skateboard awesomeness.
We have some awesome new shirts that came out of the sublimation press. Literally hot pressed we print our shirts in house, designed in house with pride.
While we’re no high end fashion designers, we did pick up some super comfy friendly fitting shirts. They are a 50/50 cotton polyester blend that makes an awesome base layer when riding. The “cush” shirts are a little softer to pamper that sensitive beer belly.
$15 for the white regular shirts, $20 for the Cush model.
The “Pop and Play” is our affordable, easy to ride, workhorse. It utilizes a flat camber profile with for a flex that feels true in ollies and through turns. Other camber options are tensioned for flex to change behavior between stiff and springy to soft and buttery. We keep the Pop and Play strictly purposeful to be a stronger, longer lasting deck so we put in our rubberized 80A urethane sidewalls to endure the harshest shock and awe you can dish.
