Update: MWSRA Tradeshow
We’ll be setting up an exhibit at our local dealer, Rich’s Board Sports,that will map out our current progress on the factory and give the shops some details on the board building process. We’ll be holding an open house from 12pm to 4pm on the 15th, 16th, and 17th while the show is in town. The shop is located 6 miles northeast of the Alliant energy center, about a 15 minute drive through Madison. Stop by during your over lunch or after your are done at the show. On the way you’ll drive by some of the best restaurants in Madison. Try Jamerica or the Jolly Bob’s.
Whats new for the 2011/2012 season from Prospect? Pretty much everything…
New in house manufacturing, new shapes, and a totally revamped custom segment that gives shops the chance to buy custom boards at wholesale prices. One word… Awesome.
In House Manufacturing
The push for cross seas production is completely out of our perception of what a great snowboard company is. Our vision is more hands on. We’ve decided to start building here in Madison at our dealer Rich’s Board Sports for the 11/12 season. After waiting a bit for the right opportunity we are scheduled to build between 2500 and 3000 boards for the first year. We’ll also offer hands on “experience builds” for customers who wish to build their own deck with us along side.
New Shape Lineup
Our partner in crime in this project is Monson Snowboards out of Southern California. The owner, Ryan Monson has a steep engineering background with team members that came directly from Lib Tech and other manufacturers. They’ve given us serious options on camber shaping and even a Magnatraction variant we call C6. The planning we have put into our molds will offer a variety of camber options and allow several different material variations. The first of which we are planning will be a reverse to regular camber “gullwing” shape that will work with the effective edge to dig harder at higher speeds. This means the faster you ride the harder you’ll be able to carve.
Revamped Custom Segment
This season we started offering a custom option to shops at wholesale price. With our new manufacturing facility and shaping options shops will be able to order boards with their own artwork, with their shaping specifications, and their size specifications. There’s no internet retailer that is going to under price you on your own custom snowboards.
Longboards
We started our longboard line last year with an all bamboo lineup of boards. To up the value of our line we started making our decks with carbon stringers to increase stability. New in the R&D realm has us playing with side carving decks and freeride decks that push some limits past what the other companies are offering. We screen print these by hand and will be introducing limited edition decks for the 2011 season. Last year’s Special edition decks sold out in less than a week.
